Aadhaar-bank linking deadline extended for 714 ST scholarship beneficiaries in Tripura

Date:

Agartala, 9th June 2026:  . The Tribal Welfare Department of the Tripura Government has extended the opportunity for 714 Scheduled Tribe (ST) students to complete Aadhaar seeding with their bank accounts to facilitate Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of Pre-Matric (Class IX and X) scholarships under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for the academic and financial year 2025-26.

According to a notification issued by the department, the extension covers 714 students, including 653 fresh applicants and 61 renewal beneficiaries, whose scholarship status remains rejected on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) payment system due to technical issues such as “UID Never Enabled for DBT” and “UID Disabled for DBT”.

The department has urged all affected students to immediately contact their respective banks and ensure that their Aadhaar numbers are properly linked with their active bank accounts. This process is essential for receiving scholarship payments through the DBT mechanism.

To simplify the process, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) platform, allowing students to complete Aadhaar seeding and de-seeding activities in a self-service mode. The facility is available through the “Student Announcement” section of the National Scholarship Portal.

Students whose names appear in Annexure-I of the notification have been directed to complete the required formalities by June 18, 2026. They have also been advised to verify their Aadhaar-bank account mapping status through the official websites of NPCI and UIDAI.

The department has instructed Institute Nodal Officers (INOs), Heads of Institutions (HoIs), District Education Officers (DEOs), District Tribal Welfare Officers (DTWOs), and Sub-Divisional Tribal Welfare Officers (SDTWOs) to ensure that all concerned students are informed and that the process is completed within the stipulated deadline.

The notification further states that the Tribal Welfare Department will not be held responsible if any student fails to complete the Aadhaar seeding process within the prescribed timeframe, potentially resulting in non-receipt of scholarship benefits.

The notification was issued by Additional Secretary to the Government of Tripura, Subhasis Das.
