Agartala, 7th June 2025: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly criticized the state government for its continued inaction in addressing the acute shortage of faculty in general degree colleges across Tripura.
Speaking to media personnel here today, ABVP’s state secretary Gaurav Das voiced deep concern over the delay in appointing assistant professors.
“The government has failed to take any concrete steps despite our repeated demands. There are 207 vacant posts of assistant professors in the state’s colleges and they must be filled immediately. If the vacancies are not addressed soon, the academic future of thousands of students will be in jeopardy,” said Das.
Highlighting another pressing issue, Das also raised alarm over the unregulated growth of coaching centers in the state. “There is no specific guideline to regulate these institutions. As a result, several government teachers are skipping regular classes and engaging in private tutoring at home or in coaching centers,” he alleged.
He further added, “The government is well aware of this malpractice but has taken no action. This is harming the quality of education in public institutions.”
ABVP reiterated its demand for immediate teacher recruitment and strict regulation of coaching centers. The student body warned that if the government fails to act, it will intensify its agitation in the coming days.
