Agartala, 7th June 2025 : With road accidents on the rise across Tripura, ‘Sanjeevani’ a social organization today organized a traffic awareness program at IGM Hospital Chowmuhani in the heart of Agartala city aiming to educate the public on road safety.
Volunteers of the organization reached out to commuters, bike riders and pedestrians, urging them to strictly follow traffic rules to curb the increasing number of accidents.
“Every day we are losing precious lives due to negligence and ignorance. Our goal is to make people understand that following simple traffic rules can save lives,” said a volunteer from ‘Sanjeevani’, a social organization during the campaign.
Emphasizing the importance of helmets, seat belts, and speed control, the volunteers informed bikers that not only the rider but also the pillion must wear helmets. Car drivers were advised to wear seat belts and avoid overspeeding.
“Following traffic rules is not just the responsibility of drivers but also of pedestrians. Road safety is a shared duty,” said another volunteer.
Despite initiatives by traffic police, many still flout rules knowingly. The organization believes that mass awareness is key to changing this behavior.
“If people follow traffic norms sincerely, road accidents can be reduced significantly. We appeal to everyone to cooperate and follow the rules for their own safety,” the organization stated.
Such awareness programs, conducted in collaboration with traffic authorities, are part of a larger effort by civil society to build a safer commuting environment in the state.
