Agartala, 26th May 2025:   The Amtali police have arrested an accused thief in connection with the theft of gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from a residence in the Daspara area of Hapania. The arrest comes following a thorough investigation by law enforcement.

According to police sources, the theft took place a few days back prompting the victim to file a formal complaint at Amtali police station. Acting on the complaint, officers initiated an investigation, gathering substantial evidence that led to the arrest of the accused, identified as Suyel Mia. During the operation, the police recovered a stolen gold chain, though another gold bracelet remains missing.

Speaking to reporters here this afternoon, Amtali police station’s second officer Mrinal Kanti Pal confirmed that the accused will be presented before the court on police remand the same day. Authorities believe that a rigorous interrogation under remand will help uncover the involvement of other individuals in the theft and facilitate the recovery of the remaining stolen ornament.

The police have assured that the recovered gold chain will be returned to its rightful owner upon completion of the legal procedures.
