Agartala, 19th November 2024 : Bablu Mia, a 100% disabled young man who is a resident of Chikanchara ADC Village, Jampuijala RD Block has finally received his long-awaited government allowance, bringing relief to his impoverished family. The allowance was granted on October 1 after years of desperate attempts and countless submissions by his parents, Riaz Uddin and Alekha Khatun, who are daily wage laborers.
Bablu Mia was born with severe disabilities. He cannot walk, talk, or even sit up straight. He has no strength in his hands or legs, and his physical condition requires constant care. Bablu’s parents must feed him, carry him on their backs, and assist him with every aspect of daily life, including moving around the house and visiting the toilet.
The family’s repeated efforts to secure Bablu’s rightful allowance had gone unanswered for years. According to his parents, they had submitted documents around 35 times, only to face disappointment each time. With no other recourse, they resigned themselves to their fate—until the media stepped in.
A report on Bablu’s plight brought attention to his condition, prompting government officials to take swift action. Within days, Bablu was granted his allowance, and his mother received the first installment on his behalf.
Alekha Khatun, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed her gratitude to the media for highlighting their struggle. “We had lost hope after years of trying. But because of the news, Bablu finally got what he deserved. Thank you for giving us a voice,” she said.
The case of Bablu Mia underscores the vital role of media in bringing justice to the underprivileged and ensuring that government schemes reach those in need.
