Agartala, 19th August 2024: In a unified outcry against the RG Kar incident, protest marches are being organized across Tripura and the entire country. On Monday, the All Tripura Community Health Officers Organization led a significant rally in Agartala, demanding enhanced protection for women nationwide. The protesters called on the government to implement measures ensuring women’s safety and to punish those responsible for the heinous act at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The procession commenced from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and traversed various streets of the city, drawing widespread attention and support.
Simultaneously, the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) held a protest in the Battala area of the capital. Their demonstration not only condemned the RG Kar incident but also urged the government to take comprehensive steps to curb violence against women across the country. Additionally, they demanded action against drug abuse.
Ramprasad Acharya, the state secretary of AIDSO, emphasized the need for collective efforts to punish perpetrators of violence against women, irrespective of their political affiliations.
