Agartala, 19th August 2024: Tripura Photojournalists Association marked ‘World Photography Day’ with a grand photography exhibition that commenced on Monday at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Prof Dr. Manik Saha, who praised the initiative and the artistic contributions of the photographers.
This year’s exhibition theme, ‘Akal Bodhan’ or ‘Untimely Awakening of Maa Durga,’ showcases the creative interpretations of this concept by local photojournalists. In his inaugural speech, Chief Minister Dr. Saha lauded the quality and creativity of the photographs on display, describing them as “worthy of appreciation.” He extended his congratulations to all photographers involved and acknowledged their dedication to the craft.
The Chief Minister also paid homage to the late photographer Sushanta Das by offering tributes to his portraits. In a gesture of solidarity and celebration, Dr. Saha, along with AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, Techno India University Tripura Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ratan Kumar Saha, Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Secretary Ramakanta Dey and Tripura Photojournalists Association President Pralajit Pal, posed for a commemorative photograph at the event.
The exhibition featured 76 photographs centered around the theme ‘Akal Bodhan,’ will be open to the public daily from 11 AM to 9 PM until August 21. The event is fully sponsored by the Techno India Group ensuring that the artistic endeavors of the state’s photojournalists receive the recognition they deserve.
This three-day exhibition not only celebrates the art of photography but also brings the community together to appreciate the untimely awakening of Maa Durga through the lens of talented photographers.
