Agartala, 26th July 2026: In a significant move towards resolving the long-pending inter-state border dispute, a high-level meeting between senior administrative officials of Tripura and Mizoram is scheduled to be held in Agartala during the first week of August 2026. The meeting aims to find a peaceful, permanent, and mutually acceptable solution to the border issue that has remained unresolved for several years.
The initiative comes under the active guidance and coordination of Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, who has taken steps to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two neighbouring states. Senior officials from both sides, including the Home Secretaries of Tripura and Mizoram, Tripura’s Revenue Secretary, the District Magistrate of North Tripura district, the concerned Superintendent of Police, and other senior administrative and police officials, are expected to participate in the discussion.
The upcoming meeting follows the positive dialogue held between Chief Minister Manik Saha and Mizoram Chief Minister during a recent North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Shillong, where both leaders discussed the need for a coordinated approach towards resolving the border issue.
During the Agartala meeting, officials will deliberate on crucial matters including border demarcation, administrative coordination, law and order concerns, challenges faced by residents living in border areas, and measures to ensure greater cooperation between the two states.
The Tripura government has stated that the border resolution process has gained renewed momentum due to the personal initiative and leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Both states have expressed their commitment to resolving differences through mutual understanding, goodwill, and constructive dialogue.
The meeting will also focus on improving administrative coordination along the border areas and speeding up development initiatives to benefit the people living in these regions.
Officials are hopeful that the high-level discussion in Agartala will pave the way for a stronger framework towards an amicable and lasting settlement of the border dispute. The initiative is expected to enhance peace, security, and development in the border areas while further strengthening the relationship and cooperation between Tripura and Mizoram.
