Agartala, 10th August 2025: The West Tripura District Administration has unveiled a detailed schedule for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in Agartala, with a host of programs lined up from August 13 to 15.
The main event will be held at Assam Rifles Maidan on August 15, where Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will hoist the national flag at 9:10 am, inspect the combined forces parade, and take the salute. Students from various schools will perform a cultural program. The day will begin with a morning procession at 5 am, followed by the hoisting of the national flag at 7 am in all government offices, educational institutions, Anganwadi centers, municipal and local bodies.
Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath will hoist the national flag at the Secretariat at 7 am. Governor Indresena Reddy Nallu will pay floral tributes at multiple sites — Mahatma Gandhi’s marble statue near the Circuit House (8 am), the Gandhi altar at Gandhi Ghat (8:15 am), and the Shaheed Smriti Saudh at Albert Ekka Park (8:35 am). A cultural program at Agartala Town Hall will follow at 5 pm, and an at-home reception will be hosted at Raj Bhavan at 6 pm.
Festivities will commence on August 13 with the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, encouraging citizens to hoist the tricolor at their homes. On August 14, a citywide cleanliness drive will be conducted, covering Assam Rifles Maidan, Gandhi Ghat, Shaheed Smriti Saudh, and all government and educational institutions. The same morning, at 6 am, an open cross-country race for men and women will be flagged off from the Umakanta Academy premises.
The administration has urged citizens to actively participate in the programs to make the celebrations a grand success.
