Agartala, November 25: The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a protest march in Agartala on Saturday, demanding the government to take effective measures to prevent and punish the cases of violence, torture and molestation of women.

The march began from Paradise Chowmuhani area and passed through various streets of the city, raising slogans and placards against the rising crimes against women.

The women leaders of the organization said that women are not safe in the country and Tripura is no exception. They accused the government of failing to protect the rights and dignity of women and ignoring their grievances.

They said that the protest program was part of an all-India campaign to pressure the government to enact and implement strict laws and policies for the protection of women. They also demanded justice for the victims of violence and compensation for their families.
