Agartala, 18th February 2026:    The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) organized a protest march in Udaipur subdivision today, voicing strong opposition to the Union Budget.

The rally began at Jamtala and moved through several key roads of the town before concluding at the same point. Following the march, a protest meeting was held where the association’s state secretary, Swapna Dutta, sharply criticized the budget, calling it “anti-people.”

Dutta alleged that the budget is entirely corporate-oriented and ignores the interests of ordinary citizens. She pointed out that no concrete measures have been announced for the poor and lower-income groups. Issues such as rising prices, unemployment, and the increasing cost of essential commodities, she said, remain unaddressed.

Speakers at the meeting further demanded that the Union Budget should have included stronger provisions for social security, women’s development, and employment generation. Instead, they argued, the financial priorities appear to favor large corporate houses over the economic security of the wider population.
