Airgun, Pistol recovered from Trinamool leader’s residence in Tripura

Agartala Jan 03: In a situation where barely, a month is left for the 2023 assembly polls in the state, Police of Kumarghat Police Station recovered arms from Trinamool Congress leader’s residence in Kumarghat, Unakoti district of Tripura.

Father son duo were also arrested by police in connection with the arms recovery.According to the details, Police raided the residence of Nitai Dutta, vice president of Trinamool Congress Kumarghat Block on Tuesday morning and recovered 1 airgun, 7 mm pistol and 5 rounds of bullets for the house.

SDPO Kamal Debbarma who led the operation said, “We have arrested Nitai Dutta and his son Nirmal Dutta in connection with the arms recovery”.

He added, “In the course of interrogation, Nitai Dutta admitted that he bought the arms from Bihar”.Police further added, a case has been registered and further investigation is under process.However, the incident has triggered tension in the entire area.
