Agartala, 28th June 2024: The All Tripura Blind Association submitted a memorandum to the Director of School Education department Smita Mol on a series of crucial demands aimed at supporting blind teachers and students.
A representative of the association highlighted its longstanding commitment to the visually impaired community, stating, “Since 1984, our association has tirelessly worked to integrate visually impaired individuals into mainstream society. Our various initiatives aim to uplift and empower the blind community.”
Central to the association’s demands is the appointment of a Grievance Redressal Officer (GRO) dedicated to addressing and resolving issues faced by disabled employees within the Primary Education Department. “We need a designated officer to ensure our voices are heard and our concerns are promptly addressed,” the spokesperson emphasized.
Additionally, the association called for the provision of Braille books and question papers tailored for visually impaired teachers, a critical resource for facilitating their educational responsibilities.
The five-point demand also includes providing special training for disabled teachers, focusing on modern teaching techniques to enhance their instructional capabilities. “Equipping our teachers with the latest teaching methods is essential for improving educational outcomes for visually impaired students,” the association representative explained.
The deputation signifies a significant effort by the All Tripura Blind Association to ensure the educational and professional needs of visually impaired individuals are met, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment in the educational sector.
