All Tripura Blind Association submits memorandum to Director of ICA department

Agartala, 28th February 2024 :   The All Tripura Blind Association (ATBA) submitted a deputation to the Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department on Wednesday, seeking the fulfillment of their 7-point demand. The demand includes providing adequate facilities and opportunities for the visually impaired workers and artists in the department.

The deputation was based on the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, which mandates equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities. The ATBA demanded that the department should ensure access to living rooms, desks and toilets for the visually impaired workers, as well as provide them with assistive devices and training. The ATBA also demanded that the department should give opportunities for the visually impaired artists to showcase their talents in various programs organized by the department.

A member of the ATBA spoke to the media and highlighted their 7-point demand. He said that the visually impaired people face many problems and challenges in their daily lives and work, and they deserve respect and dignity. He urged the Director of Information and Culture Department to take immediate action on their deputation and address their grievances.
