Allegations of irregularities at RGM Hospital recruitment

Agartala, 8th November 2025: A wave of discontent has erupted among job seekers in Unakoti district following allegations of irregularities in staff recruitment at the Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATF) unit of RGM Hospital, located in the district headquarters of Kailashahar.

Candidates have accused the recruitment board of bypassing the prescribed selection process and favoring underqualified individuals over meritorious applicants. The recruitment was conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and supervised by ND-DTC AIIMS, New Delhi.

Sources informed, a public notice was issued on August 6 for four positions—Medical Officer, Nurse, Counselor, and Data Manager. Applications were invited from August 7 to August 18. The selection was based on the Academic Performance Index (API), with 70 marks allotted for academic credentials and 30 for the viva voce. Candidates scoring above 75% in their secondary exams were awarded 10 marks, those between 51% and 75% received 7 marks, and scores of 50% or below earned 5 marks.

However, several aspirants have alleged that marks initially recorded in pencil during the interviews were later tampered with—erased and rewritten in pen to inflate scores for preferred candidates. This manipulation, they claim, led to the exclusion of deserving applicants.

The recruitment board comprised senior officials including the Additional District Magistrate, District Education Officer, District Inspector of Social Welfare and Social Education, the ATF Nodal Officer, Principal-in-Charge of NM Training Institute, and the District Immunization Officer. Despite such oversight, allegations of malpractice have surfaced.

One aggrieved candidate stated, “We submitted our applications with full transparency and proper documentation. The way interview scores were altered is blatant fraud. If the original interview sheets are made public, the truth will come out.”

Job seekers are now preparing to submit a formal complaint to the Chief Minister’s office, demanding a transparent re-evaluation of the entire interview process and strict action against those responsible. RGM Hospital has yet to issue an official response. Meanwhile, the controversy has triggered widespread anger and frustration among aspirants in Kailashahar and surrounding areas.
