Agartala, 27th March 2025: Allegations of tampering with nutritious food have caused a stir at the No. 1 Phulkumari Anganwadi Kendra at Udaipur Sub-division. The incident came to light today when officials weighed the sacks of food delivered to the center and found them short by one to five kilograms each. The food intended for children arrived in a car and prompted immediate action from authorities.
Matabari Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Pradip Debnath, Gomati Zilla Parishad Saha-Sabhadipati Sujan Sen, Pradhan Anindita Ghosh Lodh and Upa-Pradhan Keshab Das rushed to the scene upon receiving the news.
CDPO Debnath stated, “The department supervisor Bijoy Biswas is responsible for the matter. I will report this to higher authorities to determine why there is such a shortfall in the nutritious food meant for children. Necessary action will be implemented based on their instructions.”
Despite complaints of reduced food quantities delivered to Anganwadi Kendras over a long period, theft has reportedly increased due to the negligence of office officials.
Public representatives expressed their outrage, with the Saha-Sabhadipati and Upa-Pradhan of the area emphasizing, “This incident is intolerable. There is no humanity in those who steal food meant for children. Strict action must be taken against the person involved in this case.”
According to the CDPO, “Eighty to eighty-one sacks of rice and pulses have been received for 27 kendras today. It remains to be seen whether the individual assigned by the department is involved. We await the administration’s response.”
Local residents are closely watching the situation and hoping for swift action from the authorities to address this grave issue.
