Agartala, 25th March 2025 : The Ambasa Municipal Council under the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission organized a felicitation ceremony at Ambassa Town Hall to felicitate street vendors for their contributions and achievements. A total of 54 individuals were felicitated during the event.
The program was inaugurated by Chairperson Pratima Malakar, who symbolically watered saplings to mark the occasion. Malakar was accompanied by Vice Chairman Gopal Sutradhar, Ambassa BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Hemali Debbarma, SDM Sanjit Debbarma, Deputy CEO Samiran Roy, LDM Shakil Ahmed and State Nodal Officer Asim Kumar Das among others.
Vice Chairman Gopal Sutradhar highlighted the support extended under the PM Swanirbhar Nidhi Project, emphasizing the government’s efforts to make street vendors self-reliant. He mentioned that vendors initially receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000, which increases to Rs 50,000 over time. This progressive support system aims to empower street vendors and encourage them to sustain their businesses independently.
The event also saw the distribution of essential items such as large umbrellas, measuring instruments, seating tools, mats, and more, to ensure ease in their daily work.
