Agartala, 25th March 2025 : A devastating road accident took place at 7 AM today in the Kolai Basti area under Mungiakami police station, leaving at least 15 people injured.

Four of them, who are in critical condition, have been referred to Agartala GBP Hospital for advanced treatment.According to sources, a Bolero pickup carrying over twenty passengers was en route from Kolai Basti to Mungiakami Bazar, as today marked the weekly Mungiakami market.

While ascending an elevated road, the vehicle lost control and plunged into a deep ditch. Some passengers managed to save themselves by jumping out of the moving vehicle, while others went down with the car to a lower area on the roadside.

Local residents promptly responded, rescuing the injured and transporting them to Teliamura Subdivision Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, the hospital’s limited staffing caused significant delays in treatment. Only two doctors, Dr. Alka Debbarma and Dr. Ajit Debbarma, were available to handle the emergency, as the rest of the medical staff were reportedly at their homes in Agartala and could not be recalled in time.

A total of eight people were admitted to Teliamura Subdistrict Hospital, while four critically injured victims were referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala.

They have been identified as Rubashree Reang (20), a college student, Meenakshi Kalai (50), Manoj Debbarma, the car driver Dushasan Reang
