Agartala, 14th September 2026 : Prof. Dr. Alak Bhattacharya, councillor of Ward No. 21 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Head of the Department of Political Science at Tripura University (Central), undertook a ward tour at Booth No. 18 to review ongoing development activities and interact with local residents.
During the visit, Dr. Bhattacharya highlighted various initiatives undertaken during his tenure as councillor and stressed the importance of maintaining regular communication with residents to identify local problems and plan development works according to their needs.
At one location, he reviewed ongoing drain construction work being overseen by Partha Chakraborty. He also discussed development-related matters with Dr. Manibhushan Bhattacharya and sought suggestions for further improvement of civic facilities in the area.
Dr. Bhattacharya also held discussions on ward-related activities at the residence of former Chief Engineer (Electrical) Sailendra Prasad Chakraborty. Road construction planning was discussed in consultation with the family of former booth president Shanu near his residence.
As part of the tour, Dr. Bhattacharya interacted with senior citizen Amit Ghosh and received suggestions concerning the locality. He also exchanged views with the wife of Haripada Saha at their residence on issues related to the ward.
The councillor further met professors Bibhutibhushan Palit and Tusharbindu Chakraborty and discussed various civic and development-related matters.
Dr. Bhattacharya said that regular interaction with residents was essential for effective grassroots-level development. He maintained that public participation and suggestions from people of different sections of society help the civic body prioritise works and address local issues more effectively.
