AMC Deputy Mayor attends awareness rally to stop gender discrimination

Agartala, December 23, 2022: AMC Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta on Friday participated in an awareness procession with the motive of ending gender discrimination from the entrance of Ujjayanta Palace here.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday morning, Deputy Mayor Datta said “With the initiative Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-Tripura Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-TULM), around 250 women members of self-help groups participated in an awareness rally regarding gender discrimination. It is seen that the women and girls have been the victim of various violence in our society.”

“From this procession, we want to acknowledge our society that the gender discrimination cannot be accepted. People have to be aware about this discrimination. We don’t want a special class should not get benefits, and some are deprived. All are equal. We also want to inform the society that the women and girls are independent, self-reliant, etc.”, she added.

Deputy Mayor also said that the present state government has introduced several rules and regulations for the betterment women and girls in this society so that they are not deprived of any rights in the coming days.

This rally of ending gender discrimination organized by the TULM will create awareness across the state, she added.
