Agartala, 26th August 2024: Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Dipak Majumder announced on Monday that the corporation has decided to prioritize the renovation of the market alongside the renovation of the pond. Mayor Majumder made this announcement while attending a Bhumi Puja ceremony for the renovation of the market lake in Ujan Abhaynagar of the capital on Monday. Mayor Dipak Majumder of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Councilor of Ward No. 11 Hiralal Debnath, Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other officials were present at the event.
The mayor mentioned that for a long time, the residents of the area have been requesting the renovation of the lake and the market. “On July 8, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated three projects under the Amrut 2.0 initiative. One of these projects includes the renovation of this pond, for which a work order has already been issued. Today’s Bhumi Puja marks the beginning of this renovation. Along with the pond, the Agartala Municipal Corporation has decided to prioritize the renovation of the market as well,” said the Mayor. He further stated that the renovation of the pond would cost more than ₹3.75 crores. Additionally, the Corporation is focusing on renovating all the ponds within Agartala city to make them more suitable for public use. The mayor expressed confidence that this initiative would greatly benefit the residents.
