Agartala, 26th August 2024:   In a dramatic recovery, a stolen bike was pulled from the waters of the Khowai River on Sunday afternoon after it was taken during a cross-border theft incident in the Ganki area.

Late on Saturday night, two bikes were stolen from the home of Pradip Debnath in Ganki, Khowai. The culprits reportedly crossed over from Bangladesh, taking advantage of the recent floods that had weakened border defenses near the Khoai River. The thieves broke through the boundary and managed to steal the bikes, escaping swiftly. The victims, Pradip Debnath and his son Prasenjit Debnath, only discovered the theft after they awoke on Sunday morning.

In a strange twist of events, one of the stolen bikes was discovered stuck in a fishing net near Dasami Ghat, Khowai Bankar area, by local fishermen. The fishermen had been out on their usual fishing routine when they found the vehicle lodged in their net. Local youths quickly mobilized to pull the bike out of the river. Upon hearing the news, the bike’s owner, Pradeep Debnath, and his son rushed to the scene. They identified the bike, with registration number TRO6 4957, as one of the stolen vehicles.
