Agartala, 8th February 2025: The Amra Bangali Party has called for immediate intervention from the Indian government against the forced deportation of Indian citizens living illegally in the United States, a policy initiated by President Donald Trump. This demand was voiced during a protest organized today in front of the party’s state office in Shibnagar here.
The protest was in response to President Trump’s recent actions after taking office for a second term on January 20. He has begun deporting illegal immigrants from various countries, including India. The Amra Bangali Party emphasized that this act is inhumane, particularly given the strong diplomatic and trade relations between India and the United States. “The forcible return of our citizens in handcuffs and chains is a disgrace. The silence of our government and the Prime Minister on this issue is deeply troubling and makes us feel ashamed as a nation,” said a Amra Bangali general secretary Gouranga Rudra Paul here today.
The Tripura State Committee of the Amra Bangali Party expressed strong disapproval of America’s behavior, which they described as both inhumane and anti-India. They demanded that the Indian government take a firm stand against President Trump’s actions. “Our government should immediately oppose this behavior and, if necessary, engage in discussions with America to ensure our citizens are brought back with dignity,” said Gouranga Rudra Paul, the general secretary of the organization.
The party also highlighted that some Indian citizens might have been lured by brokers into illegal immigration as a means of survival. “This inhumane deportation must be stopped, and we must focus on creating employment opportunities within our own country,” stated another party member. “In the era of globalization, people are moving from one country to another for jobs. This is undeniable. If necessary, deportations should be handled in accordance with international law, not through the harsh measures currently being employed by the Trump administration.”
