Agartala, 13th February 2026:   A district-wide special drive on road safety has been launched across all police station areas in North Tripura. As part of the campaign, a rigorous vehicle checking operation was conducted today at the Dharmanagar rail gate under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai.

The operation targeted speeding vehicles, bikers riding without helmets, and overloaded transport, aiming to reduce road accidents. Authorities noted that recent negligence and frequent violations of traffic rules have led to several tragic and avoidable fatalities. To prevent further incidents, police are not only warning drivers but also imposing fines on offenders.

SP Avinash Rai urged the public to strictly follow traffic regulations, maintain prescribed speed limits, and wear helmets while riding motorcycles. He emphasized that adherence to rules is essential for ensuring safety on the roads.

During today’s drive, SP Rai was accompanied by the Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, other police officials, and members of the TSR force. Several drivers were fined for traffic violations during the operation.
