Agartala, 8th October 2025 : The Anganwadi Kendra at Jaharnagar Bhuiya Para in Ambassa has been grappling with a severe water crisis for the past seven years. Despite the construction of a water tank at the centre intended to resolve the issue, not a single drop of water has reached the tank since its installation.
Built seven years ago, the tank was meant to provide a reliable water source for cooking mid-day meals and drinking purposes. However, the persistent lack of water has left both the Anganwadi workers and the children in distress. The centre struggles daily to manage basic needs, including meal preparation and access to safe drinking water.
Speaking to reporters, the Anganwadi worker expressed frustration, stating that despite repeated appeals to the Ambassa CDPO and the municipal council, no effective action has been taken. Officials from the council have visited the site twice, but the problem remains unresolved.
Parents of the children attending the centre have also voiced concern, saying the water shortage is making it difficult to run the facility and ensure the well-being of the students. With no drinking water arrangements in place, the situation continues to deteriorate.
As the crisis stretches into its eighth year, the community awaits a solution. The question remains: when will this long-standing water problem finally be addressed?
