Agartala, September 27, 2022: Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh staged a road blockade at Agartala-Khowai road at Khowai Chowmuhani under Mohanpur sub-division on four-point charter of demands at 10 AM on Tuesday.
The demands of the Anganwadi workers and helpers are- regularization like government employees, payment of gratuity, post-retirement pension scheme and other benefits like government employees.
Mohanpur sub-divisional police officer Kamal Krishna Kalai and Sidhai police station OC Jayanta Malakar rushed to the spot on receiving the information. However, the situation was under control but hundreds of vehicles were found stranded on both sides of the road as the blockade took place during peak hour when government employees were rushing from one place to another.
Mohanpur ICDS office CDPO Dipak Sarkar went to the spot and spoke to the workers but still failed to withdraw the road blockade. All the Anganwadi workers had one thing to say that SW&SE minister Santana Chakma should come to the spot hemself. They claimed that their fair demands must be accepted. At last, the officials of ICDS office came from Agartala and cleared the road blockade by 3 PM after explaining in details to the Angawadi workers and helpers.
