Agartala, 6th August 2026: Anganwadi workers and helpers under the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura have submitted a five-point memorandum to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the Dharmanagar ICDS Project, demanding immediate action on pending payments, increased allowances and improved financial support for Anganwadi centres.
The Dharmanagar subdivision committee of the Tripura Anganwadi Workers and Helpers organisation submitted the memorandum on Thursday, setting August 17, 2026 as the deadline for the authorities to take effective steps. The workers warned that failure to address their demands could lead to a partial suspension of services from August 18.
Among their key demands is a monthly smartphone recharge allowance of ₹500 for every Anganwadi worker, citing the use of mobile phones for official duties and online reporting. They also demanded regular settlement of outstanding feeding bills and revision of the existing feeding bill rates, which they said were fixed in 2018 and no longer correspond to prevailing market prices.
The workers further sought immediate payment of pending bills and dues related to uniforms, including saris, for the 2026–27 financial year. Another major demand is an advance fund of Rs 10,000 for each Anganwadi centre to ensure uninterrupted implementation of the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP).
According to the memorandum, if the demands are not addressed by the deadline, workers will halt the distribution of Take-Home Ration (THR) at all centres under the Dharmanagar ICDS Project from August 18. In such circumstances, only rice and lentils would reportedly be provided. They also warned that all work related to the portal’s online tracker would be stopped.
The ultimatum has put the local administration under pressure, with attention now focused on whether the authorities will initiate discussions with the Anganwadi workers and resolve the issues before the proposed August 18 action.
