Agartala, 6th August 2026: Allegations of rising criminal activities continue to surface from Tripura’s Bishalgarh, with residents expressing growing concern over safety amid a series of reported thefts, robberies and abduction incidents in recent weeks.
In the latest incident, an alleged armed robbery took place late Wednesday night at Laskar Chowmuhani under Bishalgarh Police Station. According to the victims, a group of unidentified assailants intercepted an Alto car (Registration No. TR 01 AN 0226), assaulted three youths, looted cash and two mobile phones, and vandalised the vehicle.
The injured have been identified as Ismail Miah, Nazmul Hossain and Arif Hossain.
According to the victims, they were on their way to a relative’s house when their car ran out of fuel near Laskar Chowmuhani. While waiting on the roadside, a group of unidentified persons arrived in an Eco vehicle and questioned them about their identities. The situation reportedly escalated within minutes.
The victims alleged that the attackers threatened them with a firearm, forced them out of the vehicle and brutally assaulted them. They further claimed that the assailants held a pistol to their heads before robbing them of cash and two mobile phones. Two of the victims sustained serious injuries in the attack. Following the incident, one of the youths was reportedly untraceable for some time, creating panic in the area.
Upon receiving information, a team from Bishalgarh Police Station led by Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Das rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Police collected evidence from the scene and are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify and apprehend those involved.
Police said the allegations are being thoroughly investigated and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings. The incident has once again raised concerns among local residents over law and order in Bishalgarh, where several cases of theft, robbery and alleged abduction have been reported in recent times.
