Agartala, 2nd March 2025:  Churaibari police station has arrested another active member of the dacoity gang involved in the recent armed heist in Gobindapur, North Tripura district.

The arrest has led to the recovery of sharp weapons and uniforms of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans, further revealing the modus operandi of the gang.

In total, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The shocking incident took place on the night of February 22, when a group of robbers, disguised as TSR personnel, stormed into a residence and looted the household at gunpoint.

Following a thorough investigation, the police arrested two suspects, Kabil Hossain (28) and Jamir Uddin (42), on Wednesday night. Both hail from Ward No. 6 of Dakshin Kadamtala Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala police station.

A case has been registered under BNS 331(4)/310(2)/117(2)/3(5) and Section 27 of the Arms Act. Four days into the probe, law enforcement officials apprehended another accused, Bilal Uddin (34), on Saturday. His residence is in Ward No. 4 of Dakshin Kadamtala Gram Panchayat.

During interrogation, Bilal Uddin confessed to his involvement in the crime, leading the police to a forested area in Gobindpur, where they recovered three pairs of TSR jawan uniforms, two sabers, a dao, a bhujali, and other items used in the robbery. The recovery operation was carried out in the presence of DSP Genius Debbarma.

However, the stolen valuables from the robbery are yet to be recovered, and the two firearms used in the crime remain missing. The police are continuing their investigation to track down these items and possibly other culprits involved.

Meanwhile, the arrested Bilal Uddin will be presented before the court on Sunday, with the police seeking his remand for further interrogation. Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Pritimoy Chakma confirmed that efforts are underway to nab any remaining members of the gang and retrieve the stolen goods.
