Agartala, 2nd March 2025: Serious allegations have surfaced regarding the use of substandard stone aggregates in the construction of a concrete cast (CC) road in New Gomati Village under Karbook Block. The accusations are directed at the Executive Architect of Amarpur Division of the Rural Development (RD) Department, along with the Engineer and Implementing Officer responsible for the project.
According to local residents, including the Reang refugees from the nearby rehabilitation center, the quality of stone aggregates and dust used in the construction is extremely poor. Concerns have been raised about the road’s durability, with villagers claiming that disposable stone aggregates are being used instead of quality materials. This has sparked widespread anger among the people, who fear that the road may not withstand the test of time.
Reliable sources have confirmed that the issue has already reached the attention of the Union Home Ministry, signaling the seriousness of the matter. Meanwhile, the executive officer of the Amarpur Division of the RD Department, Engineer, stated over the phone that the supplier responsible for the stone slabs had been instructed not to receive payment for the substandard materials and to remove the rejected slabs. However, allegations persist that the rejected stone slabs are still being utilized in the construction work.
The residents of New Gomati Village have voiced strong demands for an investigation into the matter. They are urging the concerned authorities to take immediate action to ensure the road’s construction is completed using proper materials, safeguarding the interests of the people.
