Agartala, 3rd April 2026: The police have arrested another notorious accused in connection with the recent shooting at a contractor’s house in Bishalgarh. The arrested individual, Samardip Barman, also known as Sagar, was taken into custody by Bishalgarh police from the Madhupur area.
Authorities said that since the incident, the police had been conducting raids across multiple locations, and the arrest of Samardip is the outcome of these operations.However, the main accused, Ranbir Debnath and Sohel, remain absconding. Despite ongoing efforts, the police have not been able to apprehend them.
Sources revealed that Sohel resides in Chandranagartilla (Ward No. 2) under the Bishalgarh Assembly constituency, but he is yet to be arrested. Locals have alleged that Ranbir and Sohel are still moving freely in the area, managing to evade police surveillance, which has caused growing fear and anger among residents.
Police officials have confirmed that search operations have been intensified to track down Ranbir and Sohel, and authorities are hopeful that both will be arrested soon.The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.
