Agartala, 21st March 2025 : The Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD), a key project implementation unit under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), has initiated a 20-day training programme focused on livestock extension services in the Dasda RD Block. The training aims to enhance skills in piggery and goat rearing, basic veterinary practices, primary treatment procedures, and business plan preparation.
A total of 29 community cadres from Laljuri and Dasda, registered as Pashu Sakhis under TRESP, are participating in this programme. The ARDD has partnered with its Technical Support Agency, J K Trust, to conduct the training, which is sponsored by TRESP and organized by the Government of Tripura.
Dr. Neeraj Chanchal, IFS, Director of ARDD, has formed a local-level committee comprising senior veterinary doctors and TRESP staff to oversee the programme. Additionally, trained Master Trainers have been engaged to facilitate the sessions.
The training is divided into four modules and will be delivered in a cascading mode. The first module commenced on March 19, marking the beginning of this significant capacity-building initiative.
The Block Project Management Units (BPMUs) of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) will play a vital role in monitoring the training programme, with senior officials of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) actively involved in the process.
To ensure the successful implementation of TRESP activities in 23 blocks within the Autonomous District Council (ADC) area, the Director of Tribal Welfare has sanctioned approximately Rs 3.71 crore to the Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD).
Such training initiatives are expected to significantly expedite the promotion and growth of producer groups under TRESP, fostering economic development and community empowerment.
