Agartala, 12th March 2024 :  The president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, Ashish Kumar Saha, and other PCC leaders convened with Puneet Agarwal, the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura, on Tuesday, to press for robust measures ensuring a transparent and peaceful Lok Sabha election in the state.

Expressing dissatisfaction with past election experiences, Saha highlighted the contentious nature of previous polls despite multiple engagements with the CEO. Looking ahead to the approaching Lok Sabha Election, Saha emphasized the need for a more satisfactory electoral process.

“The electoral experiences in the state have been unsatisfactory for the opposition, despite our efforts and discussions with the State Election Commission. Today, we met with the Chief Electoral Officer, Puneet Agarwal, once again, underscoring crucial aspects for the upcoming election. We urged him to undertake necessary measures, creating a conducive atmosphere before announcing the election date to ensure a tranquil poll. Our concerns were also based on the prevailing political unrest, and we reiterated past experiences during our meeting with State Election Commission officials,” stated the Congress leader.

Saha affirmed the Congress party’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful Lok Sabha election, underscoring their responsibility to safeguard the democratic rights and lives of the people as the opposition in the state.

“The CEO of Tripura listened attentively to our concerns during the meeting, assuring us that he would take the necessary steps to guarantee the election is conducted in a manner that is free, fair, and peaceful,” added Saha.
