Agartala, March 12: In a fervent pledge to uphold the fundamental rights of citizens and prioritize development, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering socio-economic progress across the state. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the revival and beautification of the pond in Pratapgarh Rishi Colony, Ward No. 43 of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the government’s dedication to inclusive development.
Highlighting the significance of socio-economic upliftment in achieving holistic progress, Chief Minister Saha underscored the government’s focus on meeting the basic needs of the people. “This government is the people’s government,” he affirmed, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to ensuring access to government schemes and services through initiatives such as Prati Ghore Sushasan Abhiyan and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programmes.
Addressing the historical neglect of areas like Rishi Colony, characterized primarily as slum areas, Chief Minister Saha elucidated the government’s initiatives aimed at bolstering development in such regions. He outlined ongoing development activities spanning 20 urban bodies, including Agartala Municipal Corporation, with a particular emphasis on infrastructure enhancement, especially in road development.
Acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on the development of the Northeastern region through the Act East Policy, Chief Minister Saha affirmed the pivotal role of the region in the nation’s progress. He lauded the impact of the diamond model, implemented under the Prime Minister’s directives, which has significantly improved the state’s communication infrastructure, including the expansion of national highways.
Providing a glimpse into the modernization efforts in Agartala city, Chief Minister Saha highlighted key projects such as the construction of multi-level car parking and the rapid progress in the light house project, aimed at providing affordable housing solutions. Additionally, he shared significant strides made in housing construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with approximately 3.3 lakh houses completed out of the sanctioned 4 lakh houses.
Emphasizing the government’s focus on women’s empowerment and healthcare accessibility, Chief Minister Saha underscored the proliferation of self-help groups led by women, with over 550,000 women actively involved. He also highlighted the launch of initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana, aimed at extending healthcare benefits to the state’s populace.
Echoing the sentiments of Chief Minister Saha, AMC Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta praised the transformative impact of developmental initiatives spearheaded by the current government. She emphasized the long-awaited fulfillment of the local community’s dream for the development and beautification of the pond in Rishi Colony, symbolizing the government’s steadfast commitment to holistic progress.
