“Ashokastami” festival in Unakoti from March 29

Agartala, March 23, 2023: The “Ashokastami” festival will be celebrated on March 28 and 29 next at Shaivatirtha in Unakoti.

To make this event successful, a preparatory meeting was held in the conference hall of Unakoti District Magistrate’s office. The meeting was presided over by the District Magistrate of Unakoti district Dr Vishal Kumar, Saha-Sabhadipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Shyamal Das, Chairperson of Kailashapur Municipal Council Chapala Debroy, Additional District Magistrate of Unakoti district Satyabrata Nath, SDM of Kailashahar sub-division Pradip Sarkar and officials of various departments were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, it was decided that on the occasion of “Ashokashtami” festival on March 28, an administrative camp will be organized by the administration of Kailasahar sub-division and a health camp will be organized by the Health department at Shaivatirtha in Unakoti. Besides, exhibition stalls will also be opened by various departments.

An executive committee and 5 sub-committees have been formed with Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das as chairman to make “Ashokashtami” festival a success. Cultural programs will be organized throughout the night with the initiative of the Information and Cultural Affairs department.
