Agartala, March 23, 2023: Cardiac surgery team of GBP Hospital completed successful rare operation of heart tumor. This operation is completely free through Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
A 35-year-old Renu Begum, a resident of West Noabadi, was suffering from heart problems for several months and had to be admitted to the hospital several times with breathing problems.
Examination at the CTVS department revealed a large tumor in the left ventricle of his heart, which was blocking his mitral valve. CTVS department hastily prepared her for surgery.
Similarly, on March 20 last, a cardiac surgery team led by cardiac surgeon Dr Konkanarayan Bhattacharya successfully removed this 200-gram heart tumor through a 6-hour long open heart surgery. In medical terms, its name is cardiac myxoma. It is a rare heart disease. This heart tumor can happen to one in every twenty lakh. Easy panting, shortness of breath, palpitation in the chest can be common symptoms.
This is the first time this operation has been successfully carried out in the state of Tripura. The patient is now recovering slowly in the ICU after the operation. Breathing and eating normally.
Apart from cardiac surgeon Dr Konkanarayan Bhattacharya, cardiac anesthesiologist Dr Manimoy Debbarma, Dr Joydeep Debnath, perfusionist Sujan Sahu, surgeon assistant Sudipta Mondal, scrub nurse Zahir Hossain, Saurabh Shil, Arpita Sarkar, Mousumi Debnath, Anna Bahadur Jamatia, anesthesia technician Joydeep Chakraborty, Ratan Mondal, Amrit Murasingh Coordinator Abhishek Dutta, Richashree Sarkar etc. were in this operation team.
Dr Bhattacharya thanked all the officials concerned, staff nurses and the patient’s family for their cooperation in the surgery. The patient’s family expressed satisfaction as the successful operation was free. The director of the health department informed this news in a press release.
