Ashwini Vaishnaw updates Rajya Sabha on railway infrastructure development in Tripura; Invites Biplab Deb to discuss deeper

Agartala, 8th December 2023:   Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday engaged in a discussion with MP Biplab Kumar Deb on the floor of Rajya Sabha, shedding light on the significant strides made in the construction of railway over bridges and under bridges in Tripura. The minister took the opportunity to apprise the assembly of the ongoing developments and future plans for railway expansion across the nation, with specific emphasis on Tripura.

Minister Vaishnaw underscored the historic achievements in Tripura’s railway infrastructure over the past nine and a half years. Comparing the figures, he revealed that between 2004 and 2014, a total of 4,148 railway overpasses and underpasses were constructed nationwide. In contrast, the subsequent nine and a half years witnessed an impressive leap, with 10,867 such structures completed across the country. This accomplishment represents a two-and-a-half-fold increase in comparison to the preceding decade. The minister further disclosed that additional approvals have been secured to facilitate the construction of more railway overpasses and underpasses.

During the session, Union Minister Vaishnaw extended an invitation to MP Biplab Kumar Deb to delve deeper into discussions specifically concerning the railway infrastructure developments in Tripura. The conversation highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation connectivity and fostering development in the region.
