Agartala, 2nd April 2024:   The candidate representing the India Bloc in the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat Asish Kumar Saha alleged the people of India’s West Tripura constituency have embraced a new rallying cry: “Abke Bar 420 Ke Haar.” This stark departure from the previous “Abke Bar 400 Par” slogan was resoundingly echoed during a campaign event held in Melaghar of Sonamura subdivision on Tuesday.

Saha launched a scathing critique of both central and state government policies, along with the BJP’s stewardship, during his address in Melaghar. Not sparing the TIPRA Motha party either, Saha’s remarks underscored a growing discontent among the electorate.

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the India Bloc orchestrated a vigorous campaign on Tuesday, marked by processions and road meetings. Commencing from the CPIM party office, the procession wound through various city routes before culminating at the motor stand area for a public gathering.

Addressing the assembled crowd, Asish Kumar Saha lambasted the BJP’s erstwhile slogan of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,” contending that it now rings hollow amidst a backdrop of alleged national mismanagement under BJP’s watch. He accused the party of betraying public trust and fostering a climate of disillusionment, prompting the populace to pivot towards the new refrain of “Abke Bar 420 Ke Haar.”

While refraining from direct references, Saha hinted at the BJP’s controversial resurgence in the state aided by what he described as misleading tactics targeting tribal communities. Moreover, he took veiled shots at local figures, suggesting a prioritization of self-interest over the welfare of tribal constituents.

Notable political figures including former Minister Manik Dey, Bhanulal Saha, and MLA Shyamal Chakraborty, representing CPIM, stood in solidarity with the India Bloc during the campaign event. Similarly, District Congress president Dipak Chakraborty, along with Dhruballa Chowdhury and Monir Hossain, bolstered the Congress presence in the electoral discourse.

As the political scenario in West Tripura continues to evolve, the emergence of the “Abke Bar 420 Ke Haar” slogan signals a shifting sentiment among voters, potentially reshaping the contours of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
