Assam police seize heroin worth Rs 4 crore

Agartala, October 27, 2022: Assam police achieved a huge success in an anti-drug campaign by seizing heroin worth crores of rupees from Badarpur area and arrested three youths.

On Thursday afternoon, on the basis of advance information, a team of police seized a luxury vehicle bearing registration number AS10D-7320 was proceeding from Badarpur area. After searching, drugs were seized from inside the vehicle and three persons were arrested. They are Ishlam Uddin, Hussain Ahmed and Abdul Latif.

It is learnt that the police of Karimganj district led by its additional superintendent of police (ASP) Partha Pratim Das conducted an operation on Thursday afternoon at Badarpur. In the raid, the police was able to arrest three dealers with heroin worth about Rs 4 crore from Badarpur.

According to the preliminary investigation by the police, the arrested persons had collected the drugs from Burma and were planning to smuggle them from Karimganj to Nilambazar and smuggle those items in Bangladesh. The police are currently interrogating the arrested persons.
