Agartala, July 30, 2023: Some of the police personnel of the state are working in favour of the smugglers of narcotic substances because once again Assam police held one while smuggling cannabis from Tripura. The seized quantity of cannabis is 419 kgs. Assam Police is interrogating the detained vehicle driver.
It is learned that the twelve-wheeler lorry number NL01K-2677 crossed the Tripura border and entered Assam at around eight o’clock on Sunday morning when Tushar Deb intercepted the vehicle during the police search at Assam’s Churaibari watch post. And a search of the car revealed a large amount of marijuana in a secret chamber in the cabin. A total of 419 kgs of ganja was recovered in 49 packets. Its black market value is said to be Rs 41 lakh 90 thousand.
Meanwhile, according to the police, these cannabis were recovered from the hidden cabin of the car. The police arrested the driver of the vehicle Chalek Uddin. His house is in Phulbari village under Churaibari police station in North Tripura district. He said that he had left for Lower Shillong loaded with these ganja packets from Khayerpur in the suburbs of Agartala city. The police interrogated him and continued the investigation to nab the main traffickers of the incident.
However, it is learned that a large-scale drug mafia of Churaibari, the man named Sahani, was smuggling these ganja to foreign countries. He is known as a loyal labourer of Tripura’s Churaibari Sales Tax.
Meanwhile, the police official said that the case against the arrested will be accepted and sent to the Karimganj court under the NDPS Act. But the question is whether there was actually deep slumber of the police or a secret understanding behind crossing the border of Tripura with cannabis packets from Khayerpur because most of the police stations are on the national highway. But no one may have an answer to the question of why marijuana was not recovered from the vehicle.
