Agartala, 31st March 2026:  Political tensions in Tripura escalated after BJP leader and TTAADC candidate Devid Debbarma narrowly escaped an alleged attack in Khowai district late last night.

Debbarma, who is contesting from the Ramchandra Ghat constituency, claimed that a group of unidentified miscreants carried out the assault near his residence. According to him, the attackers were armed with firearms and sharp weapons. They allegedly vandalized a vehicle belonging to a BJP worker parked at the location, which he described as a targeted attempt to intimidate or harm him.

The BJP leader further alleged that the attackers were supported by members linked to the Tipra Motha Party, though no official confirmation has been made regarding this claim.

Reacting strongly to the incident, Debbarma criticized the opposition, questioning their narrative of unity and development. He accused rival forces of creating fear and unrest during the crucial election period.

Despite the incident, he maintained that his commitment to public service remains unaffected. Emphasizing peace, he stated that such acts of violence would not deter him from working toward the development of Ramchandra Ghat.

The alleged attack has heightened concerns over law and order in the run-up to the TTAADC elections, with political observers calling for stricter security measures to ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process.
