Three held with ganja at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 31st March 2026:  . A joint team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested three individuals including one woman and two youths from the Agartala Railway Station area for allegedly trafficking ganja (cannabis).

Police officials said that the incident took place at Platform No. 1 during a routine checking drive. The suspects were noticed due to their suspicious behaviour, which prompted security personnel to conduct a search of their belongings. During the search, a large quantity of ganja (cannabis) was recovered from their bags. The seized items weighed approximately 13.25 kilograms and are estimated to have a market value of around Rs 2 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sujit Majumdar from A.D. Nagar in Tripura, Shyamal Das from South Pulinpur under Teliamura Police Station, and Sita Debi from Bardhaman district of West Bengal.

The accused have been taken into custody at the GRP police station, where a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the ganja (cannabis) and identify its intended destination.
