Agartala, 31st March 2026:  The Unakoti District Malakar Society Development Association staged a protest today, accusing Sribas Deb of making derogatory and unconstitutional remarks against the Malakar community.

Members of the association gathered outside Kailashahar police station in the afternoon, raising slogans before marching inside to submit a written complaint to Officer-in-Charge Kinkar Pal. The protest was led by association secretary Parendra Malakar, treasurer Nepal Malakar, and members Mrinmoy, Nimu, Binoy, Parimal, and Asim Malakar, among others.

According to the complaint, Sribas Deb, son of Bipul Deb from Kadamtala in North Tripura, recently uploaded a video on social media in which he allegedly used abusive language targeting the entire Malakar community. The video has since gone viral, sparking outrage.

Speaking to reporters, secretary Parendra Malakar emphasized that members of the Malakar community are well-established across professions including medicine, engineering, academia, and teaching. “Such offensive remarks against a respected community are highly condemnable,” he said.

Treasurer Nepal Malakar demanded immediate arrest and strict punishment for the accused, warning that the association would approach the Supreme Court if necessary.

The association has issued a stern ultimatum: if police fail to take action within three days, they will launch a larger agitation, including a blockade of the national highway. Police officials confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
