Agartala, 31st January 2025: A shocking attack on the residence of Dr. Ayan Roy, the Nodal Health Officer of Unakoti district has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Kailashahar. The brazen assault has sparked outrage among local residents, who are now questioning the safety of professionals and the overall security in the area.
It is reported that the incident took place last night around 10:30 PM. Dr. Roy, along with his wife and daughter had retired for the night when a group of unidentified miscreants attacked his house, hurling liquor bottles and creating chaos. Woken by the commotion, Dr. Roy looked outside to find seven to eight intoxicated youths on three bikes causing disturbances outside his residence.
“I was shocked to see a group of unruly miscreants openly vandalizing and disturbing the peace of my home. As soon as I raised an alarm, they fled the scene,” said Dr. Roy.
Immediately after the incident, he contacted the Kailashahar police station. In response, Officer-in-Charge Sukanta Sen Choudhury, along with a large team of police and TSR personnel, arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the matter. The following day, Dr. Roy formally lodged a written complaint at the police station, demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
The attack has left the Durgapur area in a state of fear. Local residents are alarmed by the growing number of criminal activities in the town, particularly during the night. “Such incidents prove that miscreants are no longer afraid of the law. If a senior health officer’s house can be attacked in this manner, how safe are the common citizens?” questioned a local shopkeeper.
Many residents believe the lack of regular police patrolling and effective monitoring of suspicious activities has emboldened such anti-social elements. “The streets of Kailashahar turn into a lawless zone after dark. We rarely see police presence at night, which is why criminals feel free to act without fear of repercussions,” said another concerned resident.
Following the public outcry, the local administration has assured swift action to apprehend the culprits. “We have already started an investigation and are working to identify those responsible. Stringent action will be taken against the miscreants involved in this attack,” stated Officer-in-Charge Sukanta Sen Choudhury.
