Agartala, 2nd September 2024:   Auto drivers have long been demanding the repair of a deteriorating road, but the administration has failed to take necessary steps to resolve the issue. Finally, on Monday morning, auto drivers blocked the Sonamura-Boxanagar road in the Kulubari area, bringing traffic to a standstill. Following the disruption, administrative officials assured the drivers that the road in the area would be repaired promptly. On the basis of this assurance, the auto drivers lifted the blockade.

According to reports, the road from Sonamura to Boxanagar has been in a deplorable condition for a long time, causing significant difficulties for drivers. Despite multiple complaints lodged with the municipal authorities, no action was taken to address the problem. Frustrated by the inaction, the drivers resorted to a road blockade today, which effectively halted traffic.

Upon receiving news of the incident, senior officials from the administration rushed to the scene and engaged in discussions with the protesters.
