Awareness rally held at Kailashahar to promote measles prevention

Agartala, 2nd June 2026:   An awareness rally aimed at preventing measles and educating the public about the importance of vaccination was organized in Kailashahar on Tuesday morning. The initiative was jointly conducted by the social organization Be Fit and Fit Others and the District Health and Family Welfare Society.

The rally commenced at 7:00 AM from in front of Unakoti Kalakshetra and witnessed enthusiastic participation from healthcare workers, volunteers, members of various social organizations, and local residents. The participants marched through major roads of the town, spreading awareness about measles prevention and the significance of timely immunization.

Among those present were Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy, noted physician Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharya, and several distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized that measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can lead to serious health complications, particularly among children. They stressed that timely vaccination remains the most effective measure to prevent the disease.

Parents were urged to ensure that their children receive the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine as per the National Immunization Programme. The speakers also highlighted the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and enhancing public awareness about communicable diseases.

Participants carried placards and banners displaying messages such as, “Measles can be a serious disease; the power to ensure your child’s safety lies in your hands” and “Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles.”

The organizers stated that similar awareness programmes would continue in the future to support measles eradication efforts and safeguard children’s health.
