Agartala, 6th September 2026 : A series of theft incidents in the Bishalgarh police station area has sparked concern among local residents. Within a day of a theft being reported at a house in Rautkhola on Friday night, another burglary took place in the same area on Saturday night, this time at the residence of late journalist Subrata Saha.
According to reports, none of the family members were at home when the incident occurred on Saturday night. Taking advantage of their absence, a group of thieves allegedly broke into the house and fled after stealing household belongings and cash.
The family members discovered the theft after returning home on Sunday morning and immediately informed the Bishalgarh police station.
Police personnel reached the spot after receiving the information and launched an investigation into the incident. The burglary has created considerable tension in the locality, with residents raising concerns over security following the repeated incidents.
Local residents alleged that thefts have been increasing in the Bishalgarh police station area and called for stronger preventive measures. They demanded increased police patrolling and surveillance in the locality, both during the night and daytime, and urged the authorities to identify and arrest those involved in the recent thefts at the earliest.
Meanwhile, police have begun investigating the case. The exact quantity and value of the stolen articles and cash have not yet been ascertained. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
