Agartala, 6th September 2026 : Residents of Bin Para in Bhagalpur area of Narsingarh have expressed strong resentment over the alleged neglect of a badly damaged road that they claim has remained in a deplorable condition for nearly 25 years.
According to local residents, the road has become so poor that regular movement has turned into a major challenge. They alleged that even transporting critically ill patients to hospital by vehicle is extremely difficult because of the condition of the road.
Residents said they have been raising the issue since the CPI(M)-led government was in power. However, despite a change in government in 2018 and the subsequent change of their MLA, they claim that the long-standing problem has remained unresolved.
They pointed out that Krishna Dhan Das represented the constituency after the change of government, while the present MLA, Nayan Sarkar, is also yet to ensure the repair of the road, according to the residents.
Frustrated with what they describe as years of unfulfilled assurances, some residents have now threatened to stay away from the polling booth in the upcoming election. They said they have witnessed both CPI(M) and BJP representatives in the constituency but alleged that neither government has been able to address their basic demand for a motorable road.
Residents further alleged that every election brings a fresh round of promises, with assurances that the road would be repaired soon. However, they claim that despite repeated assurances from the local MLA, no visible work has been carried out so far.
While speaking to the media, residents also raised several other grievances, though some reportedly chose to speak without appearing on camera. Their statements reflected growing frustration and a sense of helplessness over the prolonged neglect of the area.
The residents said they now want concrete action rather than further assurances and warned that their dissatisfaction could influence their decision during the next election.
