Agartala Aug 02: The Fisheries Department has imposed a ban on fishing in Dumboor reservoir for three months i.e. July, August and September. The move is aimed at conserving and effective management of fishery resources and for safety reasons.
However, every year at this time, the state government thinks about the livelihood of the fishermen and helps them financially.Under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, fingerlings were released in Dumboor reservoir on Tuesday. About 5 lakh fingerlings were released amid a short ceremony in the Narkel Kunj of Dumbur reservoir.
MLA Dhananjay Tripura, Gandachhara Fisheries department Supervisor Madan Tripura, social worker Prem Sadhan Tripura and other prominent people remained present.Talking to the reporters MLA Dhananjay Tripura said that like every year, the Fisheries Department has imposed a ban on fishing in Dumboor reservoir for three months i.e. July, August and September. The MLA also said that every year, in the said three months, different types of fish fry are released in the reservoir. About 15 lakh fish fry will be released in a phased manner this year.
