Bangladeshi Woman, Indian Tout Arrested in Dharmanagar

Agartala, 19th July 2026: Dharmanagar Police have arrested a Bangladeshi woman and an Indian tout during a raid conducted on the basis of a confidential tip-off.

According to police, a team from Dharmanagar Police Station, dressed in plain clothes, carried out the operation on Saturday at the residence of Anwar Hossain, son of Abdul Mannan, a resident of Paschim Chandrapur. During the raid, the police detained a Bangladeshi woman identified as Sumaiya Begum, who is reportedly a resident of Narsingdi district in Bangladesh.

Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, Meena Debbarma, said that Anwar Hossain was also arrested for his alleged involvement in the case as an Indian tout.

Police said the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs. On Sunday, both Sumaiya Begum and Anwar Hossain were produced before the district court.

An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the woman’s entry into India and the role of the accused in the alleged cross-border infiltration.
